Mirch Masala - Norbury

Mirch Masala has to be our favourite place for a curry! What more to ask, the restaurant is only 5 minutes drive from home!
The restaurant is very popular with Indian and Pakistani people...which is a very good sign! The service is very efficient, we never have to wait for a long time for the food to arrive.
As soon as we sit down, they bring us a plate of sliced cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and salad with two kind of sauces: one is a chilli based sauce, the other one is a yogurt based sauce. They also bring us some popodums and plates.

We always order the same dishes when we go there! Not because we are not adventurous people but because we like what we order so much! Since we can't have curry every week, we tend to order the same things whenever we go.

Onion Bhajia

The onion Bhajia at Mirch Masala is just SO tasty! It's not like any other onion bhajia we have anywhere else but it is the best! They coat the onion rings with some spice and batter. Although the portion may seem big, we always order one portion each as we don't want any fight over the onion bhajia! That's to say how delicious they are!

Karahi King Prawns

The Karahi King Prawns is the curry that we always order when we go there. The prawns are crunchy and delicious, it's almost like eating lobster! They cook this dish to our taste, we can have as mild or as hot as we like! My hubby goes for Medium Hot while I go for Hot.

Pillau Rice

The Pillau rice nice but nothing special compared with other restaurants.

Naan

The naans at Mirch Masala are absolutely fabulous and worth writing home about! They are all the more delicious straight out from the oven!

Mango Lassi

The Mango Lassi is very nice and refreshing after a Very Hot curry!

The bill comes to £29.60 fot the two of us! It's worth every penny as it's such a wonderful meal!
I always look forward to our next visit but we cannot go too often as it's not so good for the cholesterol!
Mirch Masala does Take Away but the food is really at its best eaten at the restaurant.

Le Relais de Venise "L'Entrecote" - The City

Le Relais de Venise "L'Entrecote" serves a unique menu which consists of a green salad with walnuts and an Entrecote steak with its secret famous sauce and French fries.
Being from Bordeaux before moving to London, I knew L'Entrecote well before they opened their restaurants in London. I used to go to L'Entrecote with my family when I lived in Bordeaux and we still make trips there when I visit them! The decor of the restaurants is not the same as in France but the menu is exactly the same.
My hubby and I tend to go once a month. Especially, by presenting the previous bill, we get 20% off the food & drink bill if we return to the restaurant within a month or so. So it is an incentive!
This is what the menu looks like:

The green salad with walnut:
Here in London, they are much less generous with the walnuts than the restaurant in Bordeaux. The walnuts are broken unlike the ones served in Bordeaux. Nevertheless, the taste and quality is the same.

L'entrecote with the famous sauce and French fries:
The steak is tasty and the sauce is delicious! Their French fries are better than the ones served in Bordeaux as they are more crispy.

This is their dessert menu:

I chose Le Vacherin for dessert and my hubby chose Les Profiteroles au Chocolat.

Vacherin du Relais:

Les Profiteroles au Chocolat:

Both desserts are yummy. The chocolate sauce is delicious. Note that the French profiteroles are made with choux filled with vanilla ice cream (and not cream like in the UK).

The bill came around £66 for the two of us including service. It had been sometime since our last visit so we didn't get 20% off our bill this time as the offer had expired a long time ago. .

I look forward to our next visit already!
